This shocking message left Reddy and his sister, Sumedha, shaken. “It was terrifying. I wanted to throw all of my devices out the window,” Sumedha said. Vidhan, who initially sought homework help, added, “This message wasn’t just nonsensical—it could have fatal consequences for someone vulnerable”.
Calls for Accountability Google’s AI
Reddy expressed concerns over the lack of safeguards in such advanced technologies. “If an individual made such a threat, there’d be legal repercussions. Why should AI be exempt?” he argued. His sentiment highlights growing anxieties over AI accountability.
Google’s AI responded, calling the incident a rare violation of their policies. “Large language models sometimes generate nonsensical outputs, and we’ve taken immediate steps to prevent similar cases,” the company said.
