WFLA (LABELLE, Fla.) – A Florida man who transmitted and received sexually obscene pictures from around 100 children was given a 30-year sentence in federal prison.
According to the Department of Justice, Daniel Carson Miller, 30, engaged in online chats with kids from June to December 19, 2023, while purporting to be a teenager himself.
A parent reported Miller to law enforcement in June 2023 after Miller sent sexually explicit photographs to a 13-year-old while posing as a 16-year-old. According to the DOJ, the youngster sent Miller pornographic images and videos as a result of Miller’s “urging and direction.”
In November 2023, Miller’s social media accounts were inspected by the FBI, who found multiple exchanges with kids in which he sent pictures of his genitalia and requested explicit pictures.
When the FBI investigated his house a month later, Miller acknowledged sending a photo of his genitalia to around 200 children and estimated that he had asked for sexual materials from about 100 of them.
Miller claimed that in order to get those explicit photos from kids, he would occasionally threaten to hurt himself, according to the DOJ.
On August 20, Miller pleaded guilty. In addition, he was given a life term of supervised release and will have to register as a sexual offender.
