Cillian Murphy’s zombie persona went viral on the internet, but it appears that some have taken on more than they can handle.

A lookalike zombie was shown in the teaser for 28 Years Later on Tuesday, which fueled intense rumors that the movie would have an undead Murphy.

Deadline was among several who conjectured that Murphy would be returning to his role as Jim from 28 Days Later, after the character had fallen victim to the “Rage Virus.”

Celebrity culture accounts made fun of his appearance, and Sony Pictures Entertainment did little to stop the online rumors.

Angus Neill, a British art dealer, has now emerged to assert that he is the undead character in Danny Boyle’s long-awaited follow-up.

According to Neill, who appeared in 28 Years Later as “Emaciated Infected,” Boyle recognized his talent, as reported by The Guardian newspaper.

Neill stated, “Danny told me he’d always had me in mind for the role.” We got together, clicked, and I decided to participate. Working with him on the movie was a really stressful experience because of his incredible ability to hypnotize you on set.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has been approached by Deadline for comment.

Despite being an executive producer, Murphy’s name is not on the advertising posters for 28 Years Later. 28 Weeks Later, the 2007 follow-up, did not include Murphy.

The tagline for the Sony Pictures film, which opens on June 20 and is the first installment of a 28 Years Later trilogy, is “Time didn’t heal anything.” Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Erin Kellyman, and Jack O’Connell are among the additions to the franchise.

Garland and Boyle are producers, as are Andrew MacDonald and Peter Rice. Columbia Pictures, in collaboration with BFI, DNA Films, and Decibel Films, is the producer of 28 Years Later.
